Where you live
A citrus town with a famously hopeful name
Frostproof sits on the Lake Wales Ridge between Lake Reedy and Lake Clinch, along the Ridge Scenic Highway (SR-17). The name started as a pitch to buyers that the groves would never freeze. Then the Great Freeze of the 1890s killed most of the local citrus anyway. The groves came back, and citrus is still a big part of the area.
Homes range from older houses near the historic depot downtown to lakefront properties and homes on rural land outside town.

With two large lakes at the edge of town, many Frostproof jobs are about the backyard: patios, fire pit circles and walkways toward the water. Out front, owners often want a paver drive or a cleaner entry walk.
Ridge sand drains fast, but it moves if the edges aren't locked. Every install gets a compacted base and solid edge restraint so it stays flat.

Frostproof is a long way from Lakeland. Do you charge extra to come out?
No. The estimate is free anywhere in Polk County. It's about an hour's drive, so we try to book Frostproof visits on days we're already working south.
My pavers have gone pale. Is sealing worth it?
Full sun on the Ridge fades pavers faster. Cleaning and sealing can bring the color back and help keep the joint sand in place. We'll give you an honest call on whether yours will benefit.
Can you put a patio on a lakefront lot that slopes?
Usually. We may use a step or a low seat wall to handle the slope, and we'll grade so runoff doesn't wash under the patio.
